After a four-week summer break, the DTM returned to action in Moscow. From 28th to 30th August, DTM champion Marco Wittmann took on the Moscow Raceway.
DTM champion Wittmann had a late start to the summer break; after the race weekend in Spielberg, which also marked the halfway point of the season in the touring car series, he took part in two days of testing. The other manufacturers were also in action at the Red Bull Ring. The BMW driver completed an extensive test programme. The engineers focussed on the set-up of the BMW M4 DTM in Spielberg.
For the third time that season, the touring car series ventured outside Germany. After trips to Zandvoort and Spielberg, races eleven and twelve, which were held just outside the Russian capital, brought the DTM’s European tour to an end.
„I think that Moscow will suit us. My team-mate Maxime Martin celebrated his first victory there last year, so I am hoping that we will deliver a better performance on the Moscow Raceway than we did at the last race weekend in Spielberg. We should definitely be able to do better with slightly lighter cars. Which is why I am really looking forward to Moscow.“
Like the year before, the Moscow Raceway track covered 3.931 kilometres. This version of the state-of-the-art track in north-west Moscow makes for an interesting mix of fast and slow turns, as well as a long straight.
